The Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) Asia Pacific managing director Florence Chua has announced a 2022 Regional Advisory Board made up of 15 of the association’s members. They will act as regional-local ambassadors as PCMA APAC tunes up engagement in the region.
The association is also preparing to launch its fully re-designed Convening APAC – an omnichannel experience set for July–September 2022.
The following individuals will serve a two-year term on the Regional Advisory Board:
- Deborah Caldwell, senior vice-president, regional lead APAC global events, Bank of America
- Jean Chua, head, branding and communications, NTT DATA
- Simon Lin, vice-president and executive director, APAC, HIMSS
- Teagan Seccombe (pictured), head of events, Australia, Harcourts International
- Deanna Varga, CEO and founder, Mayvin Global
The following individuals’ terms have been renewed for 2022:

- Oscar Cerezales, chief strategy officer, MCI Group
- Darren Chuckry, founder, HK Initiative

- Edward Koh, executive director, conventions, meetings and incentive travel, Singapore Tourism Board
- Weemin Ong, vice-president, conventions and exhibitions, Marina Bay Sands, Pte, Ltd.

Convening APAC 2022 will deliver a virtual everywhere experience July-September and two in-person experiences, one in Australia slated for August, and another in Singapore, 7-9 September at Marina Bay Sands. Themed, ‘Your Community. Your Purpose’, the engage-as-you-like experience offers live and on-demand, in-person and virtual activations for the community to remain connected for conversations, collaboration and practical learning throughout.
“The business events industry is poised for recovery in the region with varying phases of re-opening. There is a pressing need for the community to collaborate more to navigate the continued uncertainties ahead and, overcome the talent crunch faced in all markets,” said Florence Chua. “Continuing education needs to be balanced with the workload of increased business to ensure our talents are recharged and up to speed with latest developments.”
