World Mining Congress 2026 call for technical papers for 2026 summit in Peru

Peru, in 2026, will host the global mining summit for the second time in history. The World Mining Congress 2026 (WMC 2026), has officially opened its Call for Technical Papers, inviting professionals, researchers, academics, and innovators from around the world to submit their proposals. The event will have the overall theme of Mining for the Future: Technology, Trust, and Transformation, and will take place in Lima, 24-26, June 2026.

The technical programme will cover 16 thematic areas that reflect the most pressing challenges and innovations facing the mining industry today. These include:

  • AI and Data-Driven Decision Making
  • Health, Safety and Well-being
  • Autonomous Systems and Robotics
  • Geoscience and Next-Gen Exploration
  • Critical Minerals, Strategic Materials and Mineral Policy
  • Mining Science and Innovation
  • Decarbonisation and Low-Carbon Mining

Dr Doris Hiam-Gálvez, chair of the WMC 2026 Programme, emphasised the importance of this call for papers in highlighting innovations designed to promote a sustainable and modern approach to mining.

“WMC 2026 will be a global platform to showcase groundbreaking work and promote collective thinking about the future of mining. We encourage professionals and researchers from all regions to submit your abstract, bring your voice to the change. You can contribute with discussion and generating solutions for the industry,” said Dr Hiam-Gálvez.

WMC 2026, organised by the Institute of Mining Engineers of Peru, will be held for the second time in the Andean country and is expected to bring together participants from 50 countries, including representatives from governments, industry, academia, civil society, and multilateral organisations.
