The Greenbriar Conference Center in Ohio is up for sale, news that follows the announcement of closure of another centre in Wooster, Wayne County, in February 2018, the Memories Party and Conference Center.
Greenbriar Center owner Betty Stine has put the ‘For Sale’ sign in front of the 3,251sqm event center, which sits on a nine-acre site and has redevelopment potential for hotel or hospitality.
Justin Starlin, president of the Wooster Area Chamber of Commerce, said the local Wayne County market is strong for this type of facility. “We’re hopeful to find a buyer that will want to continue it as an event center,” he told the local Daily Record website.
If the two conference facilities are lost to the area, it leaves just the Shisler Conference Center in operation on The Ohio State University’s Wooster campus, and that doesn’t really have the capacity for bigger conferences.
Tom Cole, general manager of the Shisler center said he has seen more inquiries since Greenbriar went up for sale, although the Wooster Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner meeting for 900 in January will have to trim its guest list by all accounts if it is to fit into the Shisler venue.
