From 11-13 July 2023, the Québec City Convention Centre will be participating in ACCESSE23, the annual conference of the Council of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives (CESSE).
ACCESSE23 will take place in Detroit, Michigan, and is expected to attract over 300 professionals from different STEM societies.
USA-based CESSE provides its association members with learning and networking opportunities, conferences, and webinars, amongst others. According to the Convention Centre, ongoing cooperation with CESSE has already helped attract events to Québec City.
“Since the Convention Centre opened in 1996, STEM-related conventions and conferences held at the Convention Centre have generated tens of millions of dollars in economic spin-offs for the Québec City region,” says Pierre-Michel Bouchard, president and CEO of the Québec City Convention Centre.
“Québec City boasts the highest concentration of researchers per capita in Canada, making it a true destination for innovation and economic development,” Bouchard continues
CESSE organises two annual events: an exclusive meeting for presidents and general managers (CESSE CEO Meeting), and the CESSE annual conference, open to all members (ACCESSE).
Community
At the 2023 CESSE CEO Meeting, rather than handing out promotional items to attendees, the Convention Centre team promised to make a USD $1,000 donation in their names to Le Pignon Bleu – a community centre for families in Québec City (pictured above).
“We are extremely touched and grateful for this initiative by the Québec City Convention Center and CESSE. Giving back to the community is the greatest benefit that could be offered to families in our region,” said Roseline Roussel, general manager of Le Pignon Bleu.
“Thanks to this donation, 2,000 local children will be able to receive a morning snack at Le Pignon Bleu to fight poverty and food insecurity.”
