SOUTH AFRICA – South African Tourism (SAT) has signed a two-year strategic alliance with a privately-owned travel and tourism company, The Travel Corporation (TTC), aimed to develop and promote the country’s business and leisure tourism offering as Destination South Africa.
The alliance was announced at TTC’s 2010 International Sales Conference in Cape Town, which recently bought 350 international business leaders to South Africa for a one-week conference and familisation trip.
SAT said the partnership is aimed at increasing year-round destination experience awareness and inbound arrivals after the 2010 FIFA World Cup. “SAT recognises the importance of this unique joint venture to ensure that momentum of focus and investment is made into building tourism demand for Destination South Africa beyond 2010, for the benefit of all South Africans,” said SAT CEO Thandiwe January-Mcclean.
TTC has 40 offices over five continents and is a consortium of more than 25 international travel and tourism companies including tour operators and hotels. The group recently created a dedicated business tourism unit, Cullinan Business Development, which focuses on working with the South African government.
