The Seoul Convention Bureau is supporting its alliance members with a new #Stand_Strong_Together campaign and a $2m support fund.
When the outbreak of Covid-19 was first detected in South Korea, a large incentive tour group of 4,600 delegates from Indonesia was already in Seoul, a test for the bureau which arranged equipment for the small private sector MICE businesses directly involved so that the clients’ trip remained a success.
Now Seoul’s MICE campaigning work has been moved online through to at least 22 May and the city MICE alliance has embraced the slogan of #Stand_Strong_Together for its online campaign that also offers educational sessions (up to 100 hours) for MICE professionals to upgrade their knowledge and skills.
SCB is also providing direct financial support for the private MICE sector in Seoul, with KRW2.5bn (US$2m) exclusively for the tourism and MICE industry. The money is earmarked for businesses to use to prepare themselves for the time when the travel advisories or restrictions are lifted.
The SCB says, “Going back might not be an option anymore, however moving forward together will be.”
