ASIA – Visitor arrivals to the Asia Pacific region will continue to grow at an average rate of 6.5 per cent per annum over the period 2014-2018, according to a new research forecast from the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA).
PATA’s Asia Pacific Visitor Forecasts 2014-2018 Volume II provides fresh quarterly forecast data for 38 Asian Pacific destinations over the period 2014 to 2018.
Other highlights of the Forecasts include Southeast Asia being tipped as likely to show the strongest average annual growth rate over the period under review, at 13.3 per cent, followed by South Asia on 7.3 per cent.
Given the rapid expansion of the Asian middle-classes and its interest in international travel, Asian source markets into Asia Pacific are projected to increase from 338.6m in 2014 to 461m in 2018, an increase per year of eight per cent by the end of 2018.
In percentage growth terms, Russian IVAs into Asia Pacific are expected to rise at close to 20 per cent per annum between 2014 and 2018, reaching an inbound volume of close to 15m in 2018.
