AFRICA – Reed Travel Exhibitions (RTE), the organiser of the inaugural Africa Travel Week in Cape Town, South Africa, says it will host 500 international travel industry buyers from 30 key source markets for the week.
Comprising of World Travel Market (WTM) Africa, International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) Africa and Incentives, Business Travel and Meetings (IBTM) Africa, Africa Travel Week (28 April to 3 May) will host 300 Hosted Buyers at WTM Africa, 150 at ILTM Africa and 50 at IBTM Africa.
These pre-qualified buyers will meet with their suppliers of choice throughout Africa Travel Week 2014 in over 12,000 pre-scheduled business meetings.
In return for RTE providing travel and four or five-star accommodation, as well as a full programme of networking, Hosted Buyers commit to attend a number of pre-scheduled appointments with suppliers of their choice at the events.
“RTE has a portfolio of events where the Hosted Buyer format is at the core of the shows,” says the Portfolio Director for Africa Travel Week, Craig Moyes. “But it’s not about quantity; it is only successful if it is driven by quality. We will focus our efforts through a global network of specialists in researching, identifying and inviting the highest quality buyers, targeting a greater proportion of buyers from established source markets including the US and Europe as well as emerging international markets including the Asia Pacific and Latin America.”
If RTE’s plans are realised, by the end of 2013 alone, the ILTM, IBTM and WTM portfolios of international events across 13 countries will have hosted over 8,000 pre-qualified travel industry Hosted Buyers.
