AMERICAS – Rio Convention Bureau has been awarded by the Latin America Travel Association (LATA) for its work in promoting Rio de Janeiro to the international conference market.
LATA’s President Christopher Pickard says it awarded the Rio Convention Bureau because “Rio is living a special moment and our associates are interested in selling to Rio, with the Olympic Games and the World Cup the demand will grow even more in the coming year”.
Rio is the host city for the World Cup in 2014 and host of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2016.
Rio convention Bureau’s Executive Director, Paulo Senise, says: “I can’t hide my surprise and emotion, receiving an award like this is really a cause for pride, coming from an entity of international renown.”
Elsewhere in Rio, TAM Linhas Aereas of the LATAM Airlines Group, has launched a daily two-way direct flight between Rio and Montevideo in Uruguay. The route will give TAM customers more connection options for various Brazilian and European destinations via Galeao Airport.
