Prague Congress Centre appoints new general manager

Roman Ray Straub has been appointed as its new general manager Prague Congress Centre. The appointment took effect 1 October.

Straub has many years’ experience in top managerial positions in Europe and the USA, and is tasked with the aim of taking the Czech Republic’s largest conference venue into the ranks of the top five European congress centres by 2020.

Straub has held sales and marketing positions with Marriott International in the USA and Le Meridien hotels in Portugal, Paris, the Caribbean and the USA.

He oversaw the opening of the four-star Don Giovanni hotel in Prague in the 1990s and was appointed GM of Andel’s hotel in Prague in 2002, as well as, later, the Diplomat Andel’s Suites and the Angelo, all part of the Vienna International Hotels & Resorts group.

In 2012, Roman moved to Innsbruck, Austria, to take up the position of GM of the Grand Hotel Europa, Palenca Luxury Hotels group, where he remained until joining the Prague Congress Centre.

In addition to his native German, Straub speaks fluent English, French and Italian. He also has a working knowledge of Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch and some Czech.
