PortAventura World events racing ahead with Ferrari Land

PortAventura World on Spain’s Costa Dorada, has announced new financial results showing double-digit growth in events, and claims they reflect a positive impact from Ferrari Land.

The company says there are plans for future expansion in 2019, which entail a new four-star hotel and a new attraction in PortAventura Park.

Since re-opening on 23 March, visitor numbers to the park are up by 60% compared to last year, reaching 170,000 visits in the early days of the season.

Adding Ferrari Land to the resort has proved to be a positive move, in conjunction with an exclusivity agreement for Europe and Russia. The company says Ferrari Land has encouraged visitors to stay longer at the resort, fostering significant growth within the hospitality segment compared to the previous year, as shown by a 27% increase in hotel occupancy and 13% in the number of events.

“The incredible start to the Ferrari Land season shows that the park has already established itself as a dynamic force within PortAventura World’s range of services and products. The destination on the shores of the Mediterranean now offers three theme parks, five themed hotels, a convention centre with capacity for up to 4,000 people, three golf courses and a beach club with direct access to the beach,” said Fernando Aldecoa, MD of PortAventura World.

The company says €25m has been put aside for the new 150-room hotel which will supplement the 2,100 rooms already distributed over PortAventura World.

Internationally, the main markets for PortAventura World are France, with a growth of 35%, the UK and Russia.

The Business & Events division organised a total of 259 events in 2017, welcoming 69,000 attendees. Management predicts an increase in 2018, with the number of events going up 10%.
