WORLD – Following the inaugural Huggability Award in 2009, won by Conference News columnist and Westminster University’s Rob Davidson, Ovation Global DMC has launched its second edition. The award is designed to recognise individuals who make an impact within the meetings industry, those with the ‘huggability factor’.
MD of Ovation Global DMC, Padraic Gilligan, said he was “thrilled” with the initial response to the new campaign and with the volume of nominations already received.
Among the nominations for those contributing to the meetings industry are Barbra Albrecht, Head of Product Marketing for Meetings and Incentives with the Switzerland Convention and Incentive Bureau; Jon Bradshaw of IMEX, and Gillian Taylor, Business Tourism Manager of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority.
Albrecht is recognised for her ‘’uncompromised customer support in promoting Switzerland’’, Bradshaw cited for his ‘’energetic smile and big hearted charity activities’’ and Taylor is nominated for ‘’putting back more into the industry than she takes out and being a consummate professional’’.
Paul Flackett, who has undoubtedly contributed heavily to the development of the industry is somewhat bizarrely nominated “for loyal support of Manchester United FC”.
Nominations can be made via cubclub@ovationdmc.com before 15 November, with the winner to be announced during the EIBTM tradeshow in Barcelona.
