The North American team claimed victory at the 19th Switzerland Meeting Trophy, beating 61 other international events professionals in the four-day competition.
Sixty-two professionals from the meetings and incentives sector participated in the trophy, organised by the Switzerland Convention & Incentive Bureau (SCIB). Teams from seven countries competed from 19-22 June, with Belgium finishing second and Germany third.
The competition involves teams travelling through key Swiss destinations whilst completing challenges and answering questions about venues and attractions. Points are awarded across multiple activities, from curling and chocolate tasting at Jungfraujoch to Wilhelm Tell games in Spiez and flag throwing in Bern. Teams accumulate scores throughout the four-day journey, with the highest overall total determining the winner.
Eventprof competition and fam trip in one
The summer rally serves as both competition and familiarisation trip, allowing event professionals to experience Switzerland’s venues and attractions firsthand. Participants travelled on the special “Red Arrow Churchill” train and visited locations including Interlaken, Thun and the Emmentaler Show Dairy in Affoltern im Emmental.
Teams answered questions and completed challenges throughout the tour. The North American delegation achieved the highest overall score. At the end of the competition, teams gathered at the Rooftop Grill, Swissôtel Kursaal in Bern.
Competitor nations are key markets for the Swiss
The participating nations – UK and Ireland, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, North America and Nordic countries – represent core markets for Swiss meeting and incentive tourism.
“The diverse range of destinations – both in cities and in the mountains – along with the unique transport options fully convinced the international business event experts of Switzerland’s appeal as a travel and convention destination,” according to SCIB.
