AUSTRALIA – Rebecca Elliott has joined the Melbourne Convention and Visitors Bureau (MCVB) as Communications Manager. Jonathan Horn has taken up the position of Communications Coordinator.
Previously, Elliott worked for Racing Victoria’s public relations team and also brings experience in destination PR. Horn has a particular experience in sports journalism.
Previously, CMW reported Reed Travel Exhibitions, organiser of the Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME) in Melbourne, had joined the MCVB to conduct a fundraising drive for those affected by the widespread flooding in Queensland at the show, 15-16 February 2011.
In related news, the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) is set to be the first convention centre in Australia to offer visitors free wireless internet access. Coverage will include meeting rooms, exhibition halls and all other public spaces. Event planners will have the option of upgrading to a platinum service, which will offer unrestricted internet access.
