MyCEB CEO Zulkefi Hj. Sharif appointed President of AACVB

ASIA – The Asian Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus (AACVB) has appointed Zulkefli Hj. Sharif as President for one term from 2012-14. Sharif is the CEO of the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB).

The announcement was made at the AACVB’s AGM and Board of Directors meeting on 3 August in Hong Kong.

With a career spanning over 20 years in the business events and tourism industry, Sharif has held various positions with Tourism Malaysia in international marketing, promotional support and research, including 10 years’ experience in the convention division.

Sharif’s responsibilities at AACVB will include raising the platform and capabilities of the business events industry in Asia, increasing Asia’s competitiveness and driving business to its member destinations.

“I have worked with AACVB in the past and have maintained a close interest in the development of the industry,” said Sharif. “Looking at the global trends, I feel that this is an emerging business sector and Asia is where the focus is globally. Facing stiff competition from other regions, AACVB will need strong commitment from its member bureaus.”
