MPI publishes Business Barometer Report for 2011

WORLD – Event attendance levels have increased substantially according to Meeting Professionals International’s (MPI) first issue of its Business Barometer Report for 2011.

The report is made up of the views of 1,000 industry leaders, MPI members and non-members alike from across the industry on current business conditions.

The top three findings from the report were; event attendance levels have increased substantially since December 2010; spending per meeting shows signs of recovery; and request for proposal (RfP) times are lengthening for some suppliers.

Other findings included: lead times were down four per cent compared to December 2011; economic improvement was up seven per cent; use of technology was down two per cent; budgets were down two per cent; higher travel costs were up three per cent and more use of social media was up two per cent.
