AMERICAS – The Palais des Congrès de Montréal is set to host two major transportation industry conventions in 2017: the 62nd UITP World Congress and Mobility & City Transport Exhibition and the World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems and ITS America Annual Meeting.
The 62nd UITP World Congress and Mobility & City Transport Exhibition 2017 will take place 13-17 May and is expected to attract 5,000 delegates and 350 exhibitors.
The Intelligent Transportation Society of America – 24th World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems and 2017 ITS America Annual Meeting will take place 29 October to 2 November and is set to attract 8,000 delegates and 210 exhibitors.
Bed nights in hotels across the city are expected to stand at 36,400 for both conventions, while the estimated economic benefit for the city Is expected to hit CAN$33m (US$29m).
Montréal was elected host city of these two events namely as a result of the combined efforts of the Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT), the Sociétéde transport de Montréal (STM), the City of Montréal, Tourisme Montréal and the Palais des congrès de Montréal.
“You cannot secure conventions of this stature without every segment of the tourism industry and transportation sector pitching in,” said Raymond Larivée, President and CEO of the Palais des Congrès de Montréal.
