EUROPE – Giuseppe Lepri (pictured), Founder and former head of NewTours Italy, has been appointed as MD of Global Events Partners (GEP) new European office in Brussels. GEP is a partnership of destination management companies (DMCs) worldwide.
“There is no one better qualified to lead GEP Europe than Lepri, with his 40 years’ experience in the meetings business in Europe and his long association as GEP partner and friend,” says GEP Chairman and CEO, Chris White. “Our goal with this new office is to increase our brand presence in Europe. This is a logical expansion of our many years’ experience there with clients and with partner DMCs.
“Under Giuseppe’s leadership, NewTours grew to be one of the leading DMCs in Italy and was recognised twice with the GEP Partner of the Year Award. This experience coupled with his service on the GEP International Advisory Board helping to set the tone and direction of our company will help ensure the growth and success of GEP Europe,” White says.
In addition to expanding GEP’s presence overseas, Lepri will also be focused on working with US-based associations to help them with their international professional conference organisers programme needs.
“I’m delighted to continue my relationship with GEP in this new capacity,” says Lepri. “As a long time partner, I’ve had the pleasure of working with GEP and all the GEP DMCs. I look forward to introducing more clients to GEP. My objective is to help customers benefit from my international network and experience.”
In 1978, Lepri founded NewTours with headquarters in Florence. Under his leadership, NewTours grew to be an internationally-known company staging conferences and congresses for up to 10,000 attendees, operating at both the national and international level. In 2007, Lepri sold his shares in the business to Alessandro Rosso Incentive Group, continuing on as CEO until January 2013.
