SLOVENIA – Organisers of the MICE industry trade show, Conventa ,which takes place at the Ljubljana Convention and Exhibition Centre 19-21 January, report it has signed up its 100th exhibitor and is sifting through 260 hosted buyer applications.
The Slovenian Tourist Board has supported the country’s national convention bureau’s efforts to build on the national Slovenian Exhibition for Incentive Travel Meetings and Events (SIMEX) in expanding the Conventa concept to the whole region of South East Europe.
Organisers admit the largest portion of exhibitors will still be from Slovenia (47%), followed by Croatia (32%), Austria (9%) and Montenegro (5%).
Conventa’s Miha KovaÄiÄ, says: “It is exciting so many destinations will present their meetings and incentive offer to an audience of global hosted buyers.”
Hosted buyers qualifying for the show will be offered familiarisation trips to destinations including Portorož and Piran, Lake Bled, Kvarner Bay, Opatija and Rijeka, as well as to the capitals of Croatia, Zagreb, and of Slovenia, Ljubljana.
Opatija has some big international events lined up including the Congress of the Federation of European Philatelic Associations (FEPA), the European Broadcasting Union’s Folk Festival, the General Assembly of the Council of European Geodetic Surveyors (CLGE), the Bridge World Youth Congress and world youth championship, Belgrade will be one of the exhibitors at Conventa and the Lonely Planet guide recently dubbed the Serbian capital the Number One city to party the night away.
