EUROPE – Over 7,000 business meetings were held in Gdansk and the surrounding region in 2013, 2,000 more than in 2012, according to the Gdansk Convention Bureau.
Last year Gdansk city and region hosted 7,186 business meetings (compared to 5,098 meetings in 2012) which drew 630,000 delegates (400,000 delegates in 2012).
Among the total were 830 international business meetings held in 2013, a figure up from 525 in 2012.
The metropolitan area of Gdansk-Sopot-Gdynia, is also known as a Tri-City and Region.
The new figures, taken from the Gdansk Convention Bureau and the Gdansk Tourism Organisation’s latest statistical report, were welcomed by GCB and GTO Chief Executive Anna Gorska, who said: “I’m happy and proud that the consistent promotional activities of our bureau give such great results for Gdansk & Region. Especially, the meetings industry, which plays an important economic role in metropolis development.”
Gdansk Convention Bureau last year won the ICCA Best Marketing Award, announced at the association’s 52nd Congress in Shanghai. The award was for the bureau’s Christmas CSR Campaign held during EIBTM 2012.
