ITALY – The Florence Convention Bureau (FBC) has launched a new programme aimed at bringing more academic and scientific conferences to the city.
The Florence Academic Leader Programme (FALP) was created as a result of the FCB’s desire to involve eminent academics in promoting Florence as a destination for international scientific conferences.
The programme’s inaugural meeting took place on 10 December at the Teatrino Lorenese, Fortezza da Basso. The bureau’s activities will be presented in front of eminent professors from the University of Florence, explaining its role and the need for strong personalities to become ambassadors for the city.
Members of the programme are also given access to benefits including institutional partnerships and operational support of the local MICE supply chain.
A spokesman for the FCB said the initiative will be “a great resource to increase the visibility of our destination with local scientific and academic activities, and an important occasion that strengthens the link between the scientific community, and city institutions”.
