AFRICA – Organiser of airline and airport networking events, Routes, part of UBM Live, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Regional Tourism Organisation of South Africa (RETOSA).
The partnership will see Routes and RETOSA work together to improve air connectivity and travel to, from and within Africa.
Routes organises world-renowned airline and airport networking events through its regional and global Route Development Forums, and each year holds one global event and one regional event in Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
RETOSA is responsible for South Africa’s tourism growth and development, with the aim of developing tourism initiatives in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.
The hope is that, by 2027, Southern Africa will be a choice regional destination.
The 15 member states it represents include Zimbabwe, which is also the destination for this year’s Routes Africa, where the global aviation community gather together on 22-24 June in Victoria Falls ahead of the World Routes 2015 in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal.
RETOSA has committed to improving travel facilitation ahead of the World Routes event – and Routes hopes the new partnership will improve participation from the 15 SADC members.
“Collaboration between RETOSA and Routes as strategic partners is incredibly significant and long overdue,” said Simba Mandinyenya, Acting Executive Director for RETOSA.
“We believe that this initiative will enhance public-private partnership and engagement in all matters relating to air connectivity, accessibility and travel facilitation in our region.”
