AUSTRALASIA – International convention facility and entertainment centre management company, AEG Ogden, has appointed Janet Hamilton as GM of the Darwin Convention Centre in the Northern Territory.
Hamilton will replace Malu Barrios, who recently became the GM of the interim Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island, which will operate for three years while the International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney at Darling Harbour is under construction.
Previously the Manager of External Relations for Energy Resources of Australia (ERA) for four years, Hamilton managed government relations, sponsorships and media issues for the Ranger mine.
She brings with her major event and project management experience with the Sydney Olympic Organising Committee, the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority and Melbourne’s Docklands precinct.
AEG Ogden’s Director of Convention Centres, Geoff Donaghy, said Hamilton’s strong marketing and major event background will be an asset for the role.
Donaghy was recently been appointed CEO of ICC Sydney, as well as the first Asia Pacific-region president of the International Association of Congress Centres (AIPC).
