1,100 doctors, paramedics, nurses and experts from around the world gathered (30 May – 1 June) in Copenhagen for Europe’s first congress for emergency medical service, the European Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Congress held at the Tivoli Hotel & Congress Center.
It was the Capital Region Prehospital Services – emergency response, Tryg Foundation, Laerdal Foundation and Wonderful Copenhagen, organised the EMS Congress.
The congress was a success, and the organisers have announced that the EMS congress will take place in the Danish capital next year too.
Delegates attended the congress to acquire expert knowledge, test new technology, share experiences across national borders and strengthen European cooperation in the pre-hospital and emergency medical field.
Freddy Lippert, director of the Capital Region Prehospital Services – emergency response and chair of the Danish host committee, said: “We initiated this congress to meet a rising demand for international cooperation and to provide knowledge sharing in this work field.
“The aim was also, to establish an official European network, which meets annually and identifying challenges and opportunities to mark out directions and formulate strategies – something we truly succeeded in this week. One of the reasons to why we staged the congress in Copenhagen is that Copenhagen has shown excellent results in the resuscitation area in recent years. As a result, we have decided to continue where we left off today and invite the Congress back to Copenhagen next year.”
