Convention Centre hosts world largest mass wedding

UAE – The Al Ain Convention Centre has hosted the world’s largest mass wedding.

More than 400 bridegrooms feasted on 205 goats at a function prepared by 220 staff, at the convention centre in the UAE.

Mousa Betawy, marketing manager at Al Khaleej Hospitality, prepared meals for 3,800 people. His team of 220 had worked from 1am the morning before the wedding, throughout the night and day preparing the wedding hall and the meals.

“It was quite a feat to get this all done in less than 18 hours,” Mr Betawy says. “There was an event the night before in the convention centre that didn’t end until 1am.

“That’s when we moved in to clean out the hall and we brought in 350 tables and 3,500 chairs as well as 300 VIP seats. We prepared mixed grill meats, camels, goats, appetisers, desserts and a lot of other items and prepared ice sculptures all day long,” he adds.

The Al Ain Convention Centre is an Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company project.
