Verónica de Íscar, chief B2B sales officer at Civitatis, has responded to Booking.com’s recent termination of numerous affiliate partnerships. She called the move “a turning point” for many creators and urged the travel industry to support the community during a period of change.
Civitatis is a Spanish platform for tourist activities, selling tours, excursions and more.
“These changes come at a particularly delicate time,” she said, with “the pressures of SEO and new AI-powered search experiences.”
Civitatis, the leading global platform for booking tours and activities in Spanish, has long supported content creators. Its founder, Alberto Gutiérrez, began as a Booking.com affiliate, monetising travel guide content to fund his trips.
“That experience is part of our DNA,” said de Íscar. “We have always believed in content creators.”
She emphasised that bloggers, influencers, and video creators have played a central role in promoting travel brands, building trust, and inspiring bookings.
“Affiliate programs must evolve, yes – but not at the expense of the people who helped build the value of our brands,” she said. “It’s time to stand with them.”
