AUSTRALASIA – Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) is looking ahead to an eventful 2014, which includes hosting the G20 World Leaders Summit in November.
BCEC says the G20 Summit provides them with an opportunity to showcase to the world the centre’s expertise in hosting major international events.
Preparations for the event are well advanced including the hosting of more than 40 site inspections, many from participating countries.
The centre reports a busy lead up to the G20 with more than 600 events already on the calendar, including 120 conferences. Over 60,000 delegates are expected to visit Brisbane this year to attend conferences.
Conferences to be held at BCEC in 2014 include the 29th International Horticulture Congress for 2,000 delegates; XXXII World Congress of Audiology for 2,000 delegates; Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver for 1,500 delegates; the 5th Congress of the Asia Pacific Initiative on Reproduction for 1,000 delegates; and Oz Water for 1,500 delegates.
BCEC has reported 51 new convention wins for the first six months of the 2013/14 financial year bringing 41,270 delegates to Brisbane, including leading medical and scientific experts.
Other recently confirmed conferences set to deliver AUS$83.3m to Brisbane in economic benefit and 204,798 hotel room nights include Gastro 2015; 9th World Congress of Melanoma; and the Congress of the World Federation of Critical Care Nurses 2016.
