Accor RevPAR up in UK, Germany but revenues plunge 11.5%

News

WORLD – Despite showing an overall decline in revenue, the Accor hotel chain says it is seeing the first signs of recovery from the economic downturn.

The group’s latest financial reports shows an overall 11.5 per cent like-for-like revenue drop in 2009 for its upscale and midscale properties.

Accor showed growth in both the UK and Germany in its up- and mid-scale properties, with revenue per available room up 2.1 per cent in the fourth quarter in the UK.

The group also reports a 15 per cent drop in financial revenue for prepaid services for the year, and a drop of 7.9 per cent in revenue overall. The negative like-for-like figure was influenced by the expansion strategy. Opening 27,300 rooms last year and consolidating 49 per cent of Groupe Lucien Barrière’s revenue since July 1 2009 added €337m to the overall figure.
