Seven citywide conventions lined up at the San Diego Convention Center are expected to generate US$93,900,000 for the region in April.
The largest – on the theme of experimental biology – is expected to draw 15,000 attendees on 19 April, while the annual meeting of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery is expecting 5,000 people, 29 April-1 May.
The month is set to see hotel and sales tax revenues top $2m, the center predicts, with direct attendee spending of over $55m.
