New appointments at ChristchurchNZ and Te Pae CCC

ChristchurchNZ Business Events has appointed Jeanette (Jen) Henshaw to the new role of business development manager – New Zealand.

Jen joins ChristchurchNZ from Business Events Industry Aotearoa (BEIA) where she has been responsible for delivering the highly successful MEETINGS and conference events. Previously she was with Auckland Convention Bureau for six years.  She starts the new role on 31 October.

ChristchurchNZ head of business events, Megan Crum says ChristchurchNZ is delighted to welcome Jen to the team. “It is an absolute coup to have someone of Jen’s calibre on board to help build our sector to be the strongest, and most collaborative in New Zealand. She brings with her an enormous amount of knowledge, networks, destination marketing, project management strategy insights and innovation skills.”

“Our beautiful riverside city of Ōtautahi Christchurch leads New Zealand with its first new-generation convention centre – Te Pae Christchurch, plus a superb choice of city venues including the restored Christchurch Town Hall, and dozens of new hotels within easy walking distance, all just minutes from New Zealand’s second largest international airport.”

This new role, based in Auckland, will give Christchurch national coverage and ensure the region’s outstanding assets are top of mind for professional conference organisers (PCOs), associations, corporate and government considering where to host their next business event.

Ōtākaro Limited, the owner of Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre, meanwhile, has appointed Kirstie McNulty to oversee the new facility and manage its relationship with the venue operator, ASM Global.

Formerly the Centre Manager at Westfield Riccarton, McNulty has an extensive background in major asset management and marketing.

Recently Te Pae hosted its 100th event since the Covid-related gathering restrictions were lifted in April. In August alone the venue staged 23 events including 12 multi-day conventions.
