Australia shares event line-up following promising research results

Business Events Australia has released the 2022 Business Events Consumer Demand Project (CDP). The project’s research indicates a strong outlook for Australia’s business events industry.

The research covered the factors influencing decision makers when choosing a destination for events. According to Business Events Australia, the research shows that decision-makers feel increasingly confident about travelling and running events abroad.

In addition to releasing the research, Business Events Australia has provided organisers with an overview of upcoming events and experiences hosted by venues that are available for business event bookings:

Experiences

  • ICC Sydney has launched a new audio-visual experience, ‘Gadigal Dreaming – The Sacred Country of the Gadigal People’. Using augmented reality, visitors will explore the Gadigal Country and culture, the Aboriginal name and the people of the area.
  • Van Gogh Alive will return to Sydney/Warrane in December. Based at the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park, the exhibition will use technology to teach guests about French artist Vincent van Gogh’s life in artworks. For corporate bookers, adjoining private functions will be available.
  • Opening on 26 October at THE LUME in the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC), the interactive exhibit Monet & Friends Alive will use technology to explore the complete works of artists Monet, Cézanne, Renoir, and Manet.

Venue updates

  • Sydney/Warrane’s AU$800m (US$539m) Allianz Stadium has officially opened after a four-year design and development phase. The 42,500-seat stadium has seven function rooms with a capacity for up to 800 guests.
  • Pleasuredome is the newest event space at the Brisbane Powerhouse. Its marquee accommodates up to 360 seated guests or fits 500 standing.
  • Set to finish in September this year, InterContinental Sydney has undergone AU$110m (US$74m) refurbishment. It features 14 function venues with 2,361 sqm of meeting space (25,414 sq. ft).
  • InterContinental Hayman Island Resort has announced the addition of 12 private beachfront pavilions. Fifteen indoor and outdoor event spaces are available across the island, including conference facilities that accommodate up to 300 guests.
