Microsoft is holding its first in-person tech event in two years, due to Covid-19. An annual conference for developers and IT professionals, October’s Microsoft Ignite will take place in Seattle where “space will be limited.”

Ignite’s registration will open in late August, with a free virtual option for delegates. Global in-person events are being planned by Microsoft, with a central event taking place at the Seattle Convention Center.

An FAQ from Microsoft explains: “The Seattle in-person experience will include highly interactive and immersive activities at the Seattle Convention Center.”

In April 2020 Microsoft made its events, both internal and external, virtual due to the pandemic. Their digital events debuted with Microsoft Build, an engineering and web development conference, and continued with gaming, cloud, and other Windows events throughout 2021.

Microsoft Ignite will take place in the lead-up to Surface’s 10th anniversary – the Surface RT tablet having been launched in October 2012. As Microsoft has announced that it will be launching Windows 11 in September and a new Surface product in Q3, the event will likely cover their current product line updates: Windows, Office, and Azure.
