Québec City Convention Centre a big year as a regional economic key player. The Convention Centre hosted 210 events over the past year, including 71 conferences (18 international and 53 national).
The Convention Centre’s latest report says 216,000 delegates descended on the city to attend events over the period, with connected activities generating CAD$112m (US$238.9m) in economic spin-offs for Québec City and the province, an 11% increase over the previous year.
Conferences and events held at the Convention Centre generated 221,370 overnight stays in Québec City hotels and CAD$28.4m in economic spinoffs for the accommodation and food services sector.
Of the 210 events hosted last year, two stand out for their scope and the logistical challenges they posed for the Convention Centre team: the International Media Centre for the G7 Summit in June 2018, and the 54th Jeux du Québec Finals in March 2019, which involved creating an athletes’ village for 3,700 young people with all services provided under one roof.

Members of the Québec City Ambassadors’Club, many of whom are research professors at Université Laval, helped land 11 of the 18 international conferences held at the Convention Centre in 2018–2019. These events attracted over 7,000 attendees and generated $14.7m in economic benefits for Québec City.
The convention centre also reports 232 events already on the docket through 2023, including 20 international events.
