MyCEB recognises new conference ambassadors at the annual installation of Kesatria 1Malaysia programme

Kesatria 1Malaysia Programme, an initiative by Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) has contributed to 123 successful international business events leads, attracting a total of 188,317 delegates with an estimated economic impact of RM2bn, it has said.

According to the deputy secretary general (tourism), Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, YBrs Ms. Nor Yahati binti Awang, who attended the annual Kesatria Gala Evening on behalf of the Minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, YBhg. Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, Malaysia’s business events industry is projected to deliver RM3.9bn in gross national income (GNI) and 2.9m business events visitors by 2020, as well as helping to create 16,720 new jobs along the way. He lauded the Kesatria 1Malaysia Programme for their invaluable contributions, efforts and support in helping to achieve the abovementioned goals, which was set under the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP).

Deputy secretary general (Tourism), Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, Nor Yahati binti Awang, said: “Our industry’s success as a global business events destination is not solely the responsibility and effort of the government but also towards the remarkable Conference Ambassadors – Kesatria, in helping profile and promote the country internationally as well as bidding for international conventions to be hosted in Malaysia. The Kesatria 1Malaysia Programme also supports the 1Malaysia initiative that calls for national unity and the celebration of the country’s unique diversity to assist the progress of Malaysia’s economic goals and aspirations.”

CEO of MyCEB, an agency under the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, Datuk Zulkefli Hj. Sharif, added: “The collective effort between MyCEB and Kesatria will continue to further strengthen the potential and highlighting the country’s capabilities as a thriving knowledge and creative nation to position Malaysia as the preferred international business events destination. With Kesatria’s field of expertise, knowledge, capabilities, influence and professional networks, we would be able to secure more bids in the future to fulfil our target for the year 2020.”
